HOW TO KNOW FAKE PROPHETS
HOW TO KNOW FAKE PROPHETS; Now, many people call themselves apostles, teachers and prophets of God. But the problem many Christians have is the ability to detect those among them who are genuinely from God. Beloved, we need to be considerate where we seek help and assure that we have good knowledge of the Word of God. This will enable us through the power of the Holy Spirit to detect whether they are true or fake. The Bible tells us that when we know the truth and the truth will set us free.
The attribute of fake prophets are revealed
By their Immoral Teachings: Fake prophets will not hold the moral track that God requires. Lamentations 2:14 says “The prophets have not uncovered your iniquity, to bring back your captives, but have envisioned for you false prophecies and delusions.” False prophets follow after their selfish desires as against the standard of God for living.
By their Exploitation:
Fake prophets take advantage of people’s desperate need for solutions their problems to enrich themselves. 2 peter 2:3 says: “By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; For a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber”. Fake prophets “walk according to the flesh.” They are more concerned about physical things than the thing of God. Fake prophets perform signs and wonders that are neither true nor authentic.
By their Fruits:
Fake prophets are known by the fruits they produce. The Bible warns us to be beware of them. They ‘come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.’(Matthew 7:15) These men are characterised by deception, pretence and lies. It is a fact that every good tree bear good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, neither can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into fire.
By their Words:
A false prophets is someone who claims to be speaking for God but whose message is contrary to God’s. Fake prophets will not convict people of sin, for they themselves are not convicted. While true prophets speak according to God’s law and testimony, false prophets speak words that suit them and that will draw people to them. They tell people what they want to hear and not what God says about them. A true prophet expresses the will of God alone and nothing more.
By their Authorities:
Fake prophets always claim to have access to information that anyone cannot access without them. They play on people’s intelligence to pronounce words with fake authority as a way of pretending to be from God.
By their Hopes:
There is some sort of reassurance or certainty they offer, but it is always transaction or conditional in nature. True hope is independent of conditions or circumstances, just like agape love dose not require anything in return. Conditional and contingent hope is what they give rather than assurance in God’s ability and power
By their Gospels:
False prophets self. They back up their words with propaganda that not real. They emphasise their message with aggression, which is not the sole purview of Christian preachers. They offer vain promises by stating that the people’s imperfections, problems, sense of lack, want, etc., can be taken away if they get the formula right. The true Gospel is mainly about Jesus His redemptive work.
By their Healing:
False prophets use fake powers for healing. Though they call on the name of Jesus but their hearts are far away from God. Those who fall pray of their deception experience temporary sense of fulfillment. Most times, they use evil power to perform miracles and healing.
The Bible gives account of signs that show we are in the end-time These end-time signs are specific and they are inevitable. In Matthew 24:15-16, Jesus pointed out one sure sing of the end-time and expects His followers to recognize it. (Matthew 24; Luke 17:20-22)
